On a cold November day in 1955 the Cessna 172 Skyhawk's maiden voyage would be the start of the most successful mass produced light aircraft in history. The 172 is a four-seat, single-engine, high-wing fixed-wing aircraft. The 172 was a direct descendant of the Cessna 170,which used conventional (taildragger) landing gear instead of tricycle gear. Early 172s looked almost identical to the 170, with the same straight aft fuselage and tall gear legs, but later versions incorporated revised landing gear, a lowered rear deck, and an aft window. Cessna advertised this added rear visibility as "Omnivision," a selling point which would have been a hard sell if the new fuselage's performance decrease had been publicized. The final structural development, in the mid- 1960s, was the sweptback tail still used today.  The first production models were delivered in 1956 and the Cessna 172 Skyhawk is still in production. Maybe that's because of its proven reliability.Or its forgiving flight characteristics. Or its reputation as the safest general aviation aircraft ever built. It is an ideal instrument trainer andone of the world's truly great airplanes. This kit has been designed and manufactured in Germany and the GRP composite parts have all the predominant details of the original plane. The divided wing has scale tips and is held at the fuselage by duralumin wing tubes. A stable GRP composite main undercarriage and a steerable nosestrut made from 6mm spring steel come with the kit and enable the plane to operate even on rough runways. All details such as rivets and panel lines as well as service panels are true to scale and these lavish surface details give the model the appearance of the original plane. The high level of prefabrication makes for a swift build, some building experience with full-composite kits is adjuvant. This kit includes:Complete set of wood parts for fuselage, ready-built GRP composite fuselage, GRP composite cowl, GRP composite wings and ailerons,GRP composite wingtips, GRP composite tailplane with rudder and elevators, GRP composite fin, GRP composite main undercarriage, steerable steel nose strut, canopy, streamlined wing struts with quickmounts, duralumin wing tubes, plan and parts-list.
